The Town of New Tecumseth is inviting residents to take part in Earthfest 2026.
This is a week-long series of sustainability-focused events running from April 27 to May 2.
Earthfest Week will feature activities across the community, including educational opportunities and family-friendly programming.
The week will conclude with a celebration at Town Hall on May 2.
“Earthfest is an opportunity for our community to come together and learn practical ways to care for the environment,” said New Tecumseth Mayor Richard Norcross. “Small, everyday actions can make a meaningful difference when we take them together.”
Throughout the week, residents are encouraged to try one new sustainable habit each day, such as reducing waste, saving energy, choosing active transportation, or supporting local and sustainable options.
Highlights of Earthfest 2026 include a free movie night, hands-on activities, expert speakers, and opportunities to connect with local environmental organizations.
On April 29, residents are invited to a free screening of Just Eat It – A Food Waste Story at the Circle Theatre in Alliston from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
This award-winning Canadian documentary explores food waste across the supply chain and in households, followed by a panel discussion with representatives from Second Harvest, Simcoe County Waste Management, and Taqueria El Norte.
The main Earthfest celebration will take place on Saturday, May 2, at Town Hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will feature a keynote speaker series, interactive demonstrations, a repair café, bike programming, an electric vehicle demonstration, and a sustainability-focused fair.
Earthfest reflects the Town’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and community sustainability.
