Essa Township has contributed to the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation’s ‘Because of you, we can’ campaign for hospital redevelopment.

The municipality donated $5,196 from its annual golf tournament.

A neighbouring and predominantly rural township just north of New Tecumseth, Essa is well known for its agriculture industry, particularly potato farming. Nearby CFB Borden brings a robust military presence to the area as well, including a large number of Francophone families.

Essa held its 21st annual golf tournament on May 30, 2023, in support of local health facilities – one of which was the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation.

“The Township of Essa is pleased to present Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation with a portion of the funds raised at our Annual Golf Tournament in May 2023,” said Essa Mayor Sandie Macdonald. “Having a well equipped hospital close to our communities is vital to the well-being of our residents now and for future generations. We are proud to be a part of the ‘Because of you, we can’ campaign and the redevelopment of the Stevenson Memorial Hospital.”

The ‘Because of you, we can’ campaign is the largest campaign in SMHF’s history.

“We are grateful to the Township of Essa for their generous contribution from their annual golf tournament,” said Mary Thomas, CEO of Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation. “Their support helps to ensure that Stevenson Memorial Hospital will continue to provide exceptional care in South Simcoe. We thank them for their dedication to improving healthcare in our community.”
