Exploring the metaphysical; psychic Fair comes to Alliston

March 10, 2022   ·   0 Comments

On Friday, February 25th redfern.events, owned by Barbara and Jason Allin, hosted An Evening With Spirit Psychic Fair at the Rotary Hall in The Gibson Centre, Alliston.

The purpose of the event was to offer members of the community a chance to immerse themselves in the metaphysical world, through various metaphysically-oriented vendors, readers and healers.

“We also had some wonderful artisan vendors that are not metaphysically oriented but that greatly enriched the event,” said Barbara. “It is important bring awareness of the metaphysical community to others, and I was excited to provide a platform for vendors to get the word out about their small businesses, to network and connect and educate guests. I felt that the event made a positive difference to many people and that is important to me.”

Vendors for the event were: Springwater Naturals, Tarot Bombs, Lumix Creations, Canadian Coven Jewelry, Spirited Earth, The Weehomestead, RJ Spellworks, FOUND Healing & Crystals, I Felt Magic, Hailey By Design, Ripe Avocado Witch, John E’s Wood Crafts & Creations and The Panicking Witch.

Readers were: Adora’s Divinations, Naomi Simpson Astrology, Heaven On Earth Healing Centre, Northstar Tarot, Tammie Whalen Buckler – psychic and author, Tarot Vale, and Aylan – Turkish coffee reader.

“Each vendor came with a wealth of knowledge, and I encouraged vendors to engage with guests in the educational aspects of the metaphysical – as I know we had many curious people attend,” said Barbara. “In the hall we had a screen running where guests could watch and gently learn about intuitive development, mediumship, healing and more. When you entered the front entrance there was also an Ofrenda Exhibit explaining a bit about the Mexican tradition ‘Day of the Dead’. We built an altar so people can see in real time what a small one looks like.”

This is the first redern.event to take place in Alliston – in fact, it’s the first redfern.events event ever. On how redfern.events came to be, Barbara told The Times: “I was part of a fundraiser for CONTACT Community Services a few years ago and it was a metaphysical event where I provided Reiki sessions. We were in the Mercer Pub [in the basement of the Gibson Centre] and it was a beautiful evening in a stunning location. I told the organizers, ‘If I ever do an event like this, I’m doing it in this building’… and now I have!”

On starting their small business from concept to creation, Barbara said the timing just felt right.

Barbara began her spiritual journey in 2013, when she became a Reiki Master Practitioner, Medium and an Intuitive Development and Mediumship Teacher.

“I have trained with teachers from the UK, USA and Canada and I now own Redfern Healing, where I do readings and Reiki,” said Barbara. “In a nutshell, I came across a Facebook Marketplace ad last fall for Wishing Well Sanctuary in Bradford. I looked into them and realized they had a whole therapeutic aspect to them and so I reached out to Brenda, the Chief Wishing Officer of the Sanctuary, and we hit it off. I went in, interested in utilizing her facilities to teach development classes and ended up leaving with an agreement to create Wishing Well Sanctuary’s 10th Birthday Bash and Fundraising Festival in October of 2021. At that time, I enlisted my husband Jason for his creativity and graphic arts skills. The event went beautifully and I realized, through learning and connecting with the community and really digging into event planning, that I had a knack for it; it opened up my creative processes – which is where I thrive – and I just loved to do it! Shortly thereafter, Jason and I made the decision to work as a team and created redfern.events.

“With all my daily focus in Reiki, mediumship and teaching intuitive development and mediumship, I wanted a platform to provide education and support on the topics to others. It only seemed natural to me that redfern.events would focus primarily on the metaphysical and it excited the both of us to know that we could create a platform for vendors, readers and healers to have an ethical, safe, uplifting space to educate and engage the public in what we know and to empower one another.”
