The TNT Express hosted three games at Mel Mitchell Athletic Fields in Beeton on Sunday, July 8.
It was a tough day for the Express when they came up short in all three games.
The Express teams, however, did give a solid effort on the field and turned out good performances in all three matches.
Bantam
The Express Bantam team start off the day with 10:00 a.m. kick-off against the Woodstock Wolverines.
TNT put up a solid defensive wall in the first half of the game shutting down the Woodstock attempt to get down field and most of the half was played at mid-field.
The half ended with no score.
Woodstock was first on the scoreboard with a TD early in the third quarter but the Express stopped the convert attempt for the extra point.
After giving up a second TD the Express had success moving down field.
A long pass from Colton Blanchard to receiver Hunter Thom placed the Express in good field position.
With a play on the one-yard line, TNT’s Sandro Bonsi went through the middle to score, the followed up with a two-point convert.
The Wolverines scored the final goal of the day with less than a minute remaining on the clock to win the game 18-8.
Junior Varsity
The Express Junior Varsity team hosted the Clarington Knights in the second game of the day.
The JV squad has several injuries and were playing with a pretty tight bench for the game.
At the end of the day, the Express had to settle for a 35-0 loss to the Knights.
The Express will be back at Mel Mitchell this Sunday, July 15, for their final regular season game against the Vaughan Rebels.
The kick-off is slated for 12:00 noon.
Varsity
