Express JVs shut out Toronto

The TNT Express Junior Varsity squad delivered a slam dunk of the Toronto Jets over the weekend shutting out the Toronto team 40-0 on their home field at Downsview Park in Toronto.
The Express defensive turned in a solid performance early in the game when Braham Bicshof, Liam Hunter, Bradley Knott, and Brayden Christos, shut down the Jets game.
Christos recovered a fumble early in the game to give the TNT squad possession.
In a daring early game move, quarterback Talon Horst called his own number and ran for a first down.
That was followed up with an opening touchdown from Alex Dolles.
The Express went ahead by 14 when Justin Fawcett caught a long pass then ran the distance to cross the goal.
After stalling the Jets on field the Toronto team was forced to punt to get out of a hole. The kick was returned by TNT’s Declan McGuire.
Dolles got his second TD of the game when he took the hand-off and ran for 55 yards to cross the goal.
The Express finished off the half with a long pass received by Mitchel Giglio with just one minute left on the clock to place TNT in scoring position.
As pass into the end zone to Justin Fawcett ended the half with another Express touchdown.
Returning for the second half the Express started out with another long pass to Duncan McDonald who received then ran to cross the goal.
Braydon Christos kicked the successful one-point convert.
Express defenceman Matthew Schnitzer robbed the Toronto team when he snagged a pass intended for a Jets receiver for the turn-around.
The Express kept up the pressure for the entire game leaving with a 40-0 win.
The Express JVs are now 3-3 for the season and have a fourth place in the Ontario Minor Football League Junior Varsity standings.
The Express JVs will have one road game in Hamilton before returning to their home field at Mel Mitchel Athletic Fields in Beeton on Sunday, July 24, when they will host the Toronto Jets. Game time is 2 p.m.
