The Blackhorse Village Players Theatre is launching its 50th Anniversary season with the adult comedy, ‘Murder At The Howard Johnson’s’ by Ron Clark and Sam Bobrick.

Established in 1970, Blackhorse has been entertaining the communities of New Tecumseth, Caledon, and King Township for 52 seasons, but due to the COVID–19 pandemic 50th Anniversary celebrations had to be postponed to fall 2022.

“The theatre is thrilled to be back in action and provide an abundance of comedy along the way, showcasing plays from the past five decades,” Cheryl Phillips Blackhorse Theatre representative told The Times. “The season opener, ‘Murder At The Howard Johnson’s’, was first presented on the Blackhorse stage in June of 1989. The story revolves around three characters caught up in a love triangle that goes off the rails with plenty of plot twists with humorous results. The talented cast features, Jacquie Moore, Desmond Baxter, and Ceirin Mettler, under the direction of Amanda Laughlin.”

Performances start with preview on Wednesday (Oct. 26) and run each weekend, closing with the final performance on Sunday (Nov.13). Tickets are available for purchase online. For more information on curtain times, ticket prices, or to reserve your seats, please visit

The Blackhorse Village Players Theatre is located at 17272 Mount Wolfe Road at the corner of Highway 9 and is a volunteer-based, not-for-profit organization. All ticket proceeds go to The Blackhorse Village Players Theatre.

“Thank you, to our patrons for their continued support,” said Phillips. “And cheers to 50 more!”
