Faris Team donates $16,500 to SMHF

The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation has been chosen as Faris Team Real Estate Brokerage’s charity partner for Alliston for a second time.

The partnership resulted in a $16,500 donation to the Foundation from initiatives over the past year.

Mark Faris presented the proceeds to Mary Thomas, CEO SMHF on Friday, July 8.

Under the “Faris Cares” program, $100 from each home bought or sold by the Faris Team’s Alliston location will be donated to the SMHF to support the hospital’s priority needs.

The Faris Team recently challenged fellow community realtors to make a similar commitment.

To date, the challenge has inspired an additional four realtors from a variety of brokerages to join the challenge and donate a portion of proceeds from homes bought or sold.

Funds raised will support the ‘Because of you, we can’ capital campaign.

“This generous donation along with a commitment for a second year of support from the Faris Team Real Estate Brokerage recognizes the important role our local hospital plays in our community,” said Mary Thomas, CEO of SMFS. “With almost 40,000 patient visits coming through the Emergency Department annually, a space designed to accommodate only 7,000 visits, the need for support is urgent. Our communities are growing rapidly and our local hospital needs to grow with it. Support from our business partners is helping us ensure exceptional health care stays close to home. We are so grateful to be selected by the Faris Team once again.”

The campaign to redevelop the hospital comes at a time when a growing population means it is more important than ever.

“Faris Team’s mission is to go full out for the communities we serve,” said CEO & Broker Mark Faris, “As a brokerage, we see firsthand the population growth of our communities and are proud to support the redevelopment of Stevenson as it expands to meet this demand. Our local hospital invests in the health of our employees, our clients and our families. It’s our pleasure to give back and support the place that keeps all of us physically and mentally well.”
