When you visit the Zehrs grocery store in Alliston this Saturday, you can pick up an extra item and help fill a bus with groceries that will be donated to the Good Shepherd Food Bank.
Landmark Bus Lines has again donated the use of a bus that will be on-site at the grocery store parking lot to be filled with donations from shoppers. There is also the opportunity to make a financial donation to help buy food.
Landmark employee and wheelchair school bus driver, Jody Cele, brought the bus to the parking lot before Thanksgiving and was thrilled with the positive feedback they received from the public.
“We collected $751 and just under 2,000 lbs. of food,” Jody said. “We were extremely pleased with that amount. With the right people, we would love to try and double that amount if not triple it. Times are tough all around and everyone deserves happiness, love, and laughter around the table with full bellies.”
Along with Jody, a representative from the Good Shepherd Food Bank will be at the location and they will be joined by members of the Ontario Provincial Police, who no doubt will provide the flashing lights to let people know something is going on.
The Fill a Bus event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 17, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
