During a summer that has experienced fairly warm and dry temperatures, the Fire Danger Rating for New Tecumseth is currently ‘moderate.’

There are currently no burning restrictions in place in the region.

Of the 20 municipalities listed for Simcoe County, all currently have a rating of moderate as of Aug. 7.

Four municipalities that previously had a rating of ‘high’ have returned to a moderate rating.

Residents are encouraged to monitor the local Fire Danger Rating, as it may change during the summer season.

Fire Danger Ratings and burning bans are issued at the discretion of local Fire Services.

If a fire rating is high, a burn ban may be in place.

A burn ban may include all fires, even when permits have been issued.

If you do have an outdoor fire, it must be tended to at all times. A bucket of water or an extinguishing system must be nearby.

Make sure all fires are extinguished fully before you leave a fire.

Be aware of current Fire Danger Ratings in your area and follow any orders that have been issued regarding outdoor fires.
