There are currently no burning restrictions in place in the region.

During a summer with seasonal, but not overly hot temperatures, the current Fire Danger Rating for New Tecumseth is ‘moderate’ as of the week beginning Aug. 16.

Of the 20 municipalities listed for Simcoe County, none have a current fire rating of ‘high.’

Thirteen municipalities have a rating of ‘moderate.’ The remaining municipalities have a rating of low.

In cottage country, the Muskoka region has a rating of ‘moderate.’

Residents are encouraged to be aware of the local Fire Danger Rating as it may change during the summer season.

Fire Danger Ratings and burning bans are issued at the discretion of local Fire Services.

If a fire rating is listed as high, a burn ban may be put in place.

A burn ban may include all fires, including those where permits have been issued.

If you do have an outdoor fire, it must be tended to at all times. Keep a bucket of water or an extinguishing system nearby.

Make sure all fires are fully extinguished before you leave.

Be aware of current Fire Danger Ratings in your area and follow any orders that have been issued regarding outdoor fires.
