As a master jeweler, Joe Casiello takes pride in the fact that all the work that his clients bring to him is completed by himself with expert craftsmanship and exceptional attention to detail.
Most jewelers outsource repair work, but at Fire & Ice Goldsmithing in Tottenham, Joe is the expert that can do everything from ring sizing, chain and bracelet repairs, and new ring claws, to custom work and re-designs and jewelry appraisals. He is the only jeweler in New Tecumseth that does on-site repairs.
Joe works from home, meaning he doesn’t have high overhead costs that are passed on to his customers. Instead, he has a fully serviced in-house workspace with all the machines and specialty tools a craftsman needs to do the intricate and detailed work performed by a professional jeweler.
While he is a jeweler, Joe is also known as a goldsmith. This is a specialized part of the jewellery industry that provides services that require working with gold, in particular. This skill allows Joe to re-size a gold ring with a final result that shows no indication that a ring was even worked on, other than the fact that once cleaned, your ring will look even better than when you brought it in.
A Tottenham resident for 28 years, Joe has 30 years of experience in the industry.
“I worked in goldsmithing – that was my primary job – I did that for 13 years in Brampton,” he explained of his start. “A lot of the process has to do with mold and precious metals. I just have an eye for design and accuracy. I’m very meticulous when doing my work.”
Joe changed careers for several years but still kept his goldsmithing work on the side. When the pandemic occurred, he decided to expand his operation to a full-time business.
Once word got out that Tottenham had its own jeweler, his customer base flourished. Clients could go to Joe and expect outstanding results without driving to another major centre to find someone who could make expert repairs. He also has clients from many surrounding towns in the region who come to Tottenham to have him work on their jewelry.
Joe does very meticulous work, including stone setting, which requires very detailed and precise craftsmanship.
“I do gem setting and prong re-setting,” Joe explained. “Gold is going to wear down – it’s not going to last forever. A lot of things people come to see for is to refurbish a ring – I love to do that and bring rings back to life again. I specialize in that, and in all different carats of gold.”
Joe has worked hard to establish a good rapport with his clients, and they trust him to not only produce superior results, but they know his pricing is very competitive, and they appreciate that.
