Gibson Centre hosts Seasonal Marketplace through December 17

December 9, 2021   ·   0 Comments

From November 5 until the week before Christmas (December 17) The Gibson Centre is hosting its annual Seasonal Marketplace – but much like everyone’s favourite holiday candy, this year there’s a twist.

With help from coordinators of Seasonal Wrapsody, The Gibson Centre’s Seasonal Market is being held on the main floor, in the space normally occupied by the Gibson Gallery, and is overseen by Gibson staff instead of the artists themselves, allowing for a private shopping experience over a longer period of time.

“This is the second year for the Seasonal Marketplace,” said Jennifer Fortin, Gibson Centre Executive Director. “It is going well with a bit more traffic this year. The vendors usually participate in a two-day Seasonal Wrapsody hosted by the Nottawasaga Spinners and Weavers. Due to the pandemic, we have offered our gallery space for these vendors as an alternative opportunity to sell their wares.”

This year the Gibson is hosting 36 artists in total with products ranging from homemade jams and shortbread cookies, to candles, gnomes, decorations and more.

“Our space is showcasing beautiful creations made by local artisans,” said Fortin.

Next up for The Gibson is Photos with Santa, this coming Saturday, December 11th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

“Appointments are required,” confirms Fortin, “and admission is by donation.”

Coming up in January is the Banting Memorial High School Art Exhibit from January 12 to January 26, 2022.

Fortin says more New Year’s event announcements are coming soon.

Plan to attend the Seasonal Market at The Gibson Centre – open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
