Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) is refreshing a unique initiative that allows people to express gratitude for the care they receive at Stevenson.

The new Grateful Patient Program, which launched on June 19, offers a heartfelt opportunity for patients and their families to give back and honour the dedicated staff who made a difference during their hospital experience.

“By making a donation to the SMHF in celebration of a staff member or healthcare professional at SMH, participants can express their gratitude while contributing to the continuous enhancement of healthcare services in our community,” said SMH in a press release on Monday (June 19).

Dr. Matthew Myatt, a member of the SMH medical team, recently received a tribute donation through the Raymond James Canada Foundation from the Donnelly family, who are supporters of the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation.

“We are forever grateful for the professional, compassionate care that has been extended to the Donnelly family over the past several years, by Dr. Matt Myatt,” said the Donelly family in recognition of the exceptional care provided by Dr. Myatt.

This generous donation has catalyzed the launch of the Grateful Patient Program. With its re-establishment, SMHF invites patients, their families, and the community to make donations to thank the staff at SMH for the extraordinary care they provide.

Every donation received through the Grateful Patient Program will directly contribute to improving patient care, upgrading and purchasing medical equipment, and supporting fundraising initiatives for SMHF.

Thanks to the continued support and appreciation of our community, Stevenson Memorial Hospital and the Foundation can continue to provide high-quality healthcare services to all.

“We are excited to re-introduce the Grateful Patient Program as an avenue for individuals to express their appreciation while positively impacting the future of healthcare in our region,” said Mary Thomas, CEO of SMHF.” The contributions made through this program will empower us to provide our healthcare professionals with the resources they need to deliver exceptional care to our patients and their families.”

To participate in the Grateful Patient Program and make a tribute donation, individuals can visit the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation website at www.transformingstevenson.com/gratefulpatient.

Donors will have the option to include a personal message of thanks, which will be printed on a certificate and presented to honoured staff members.

The $43 million “Because of you, we can Campaign” is the largest campaign in SMHF’s history. It looks to redevelop and expand the hospital to accommodate New Tecumseth and Simcoe County’s growing population.

Donations received help purchase essential equipment, upgrade technology, and complete critical renovations essential to the transformation and redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital.

The hospital’s redevelopment plan includes a new Emergency Department that will triple in size. With an Emergency Department built to manage 7,000 visits a year that currently manages close to 40,000 per year and a growing population in south Simcoe and surrounding communities, this redevelopment is needed today and for future generations.
