You can see Kelly Williams designs from a long way away on a sunny day.
Owner of Hockley Designs, Kelly makes crystal sun catchers that sparkle and reflect the sunlight in a dazzling rainbow of light.
She also makes a variety of jewelry including earrings, bracelets, rings, and key chains.
Kelly brought her collection to the Tottenham Artisan and Farmer’s Market on Sunday, August 28.
She got her start in jewellery through a friend.
“My best friend in Arizona makes this type of thing, so when I would visit her we would make sun catchers,” Kelly explained. “When COVID hit, I made the investment to start making them myself. It kind of morphed into a bigger project than I ever though it would.”
Kelly makes all the jewellery herself, and much of it is very complicated work. She uses sterling silver in her work to hold the pieces together and to make the earrings and accessories.
“People say I’m a jewellery maker, which I guess I am, but crystal sun catchers are my core item,” Kelly said, “I sort of define myself as one who makes the sun catchers. But I also make stretch bracelets, a Tiffany style bracelet, rings, earrings, and key chains. The sun catchers you hang in the window. The crystal is Egyptian – it’s very high-end crystal. When the sun hits it you can see the rainbows. People will buy it because they like energy the stone represents. Some people like it because they like the angels, they think it’s pretty. Everyone buys one for a different reason.”
Some of her sun catcher designs include angel figures.
She also sells a variety of semi-precious stones that come from all over the world.
Her work has become very popular and she is now selling her products in ten different stores including Tottenham Health Foods store.
She takes her jewellery and crystals to a different market every weekend.
Making and selling jewellery is quite different than her former career.
Kelly was a race car driver in the CASCAR racing series and has “worked in the car world my entire life.”
