Hornets double down over Schomberg

The Alliston Junior C Hornets are undefeated in four games to start the season after back-to-back wins over the Schomberg Cougars.
The teams met up on Schomberg home ice on Thursday (Sept. 21).
After taking a 2-1 lead in the first frame, the Hornets moved head 5-2 in the second period.
They capped the game with a 7-2 win with a pair of goals in the final period.
The teams met again the following night at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre in Alliston.
Friday night’s game was pretty much over at the end of the first period.
The Hornets were ahead on goals from Braydon Horgarth and Brandon Washer before the game was three minutes into the first period.
The Cougars scored to get on the board, but Alliston’s Ryan Young notched one on a power play to make it a 3-1 game.
The Hornets finished off the period with four more from Mitch Livingston, Drake Board for two, and a final first period short handed goal from Ryan Sallows when the Hornets were down two men on a penalty kill.
Brandon Washer score a single in the second period and that was all the Hornets scoring for the night.
They left the ice with an 8-4 win.
The win gives the Hornets a 4-0 record so far for the season.
In the early going the Stayner Siksins have moved into first place in the division standings after winning their first five games. The Hornets are right behind in second spot.
The Hornets don’t have a home game this week. Instead they will be heading up to Midland to take on the Flyers.
They return to home ice on Friday, October 6, to host the Orillia Terriers. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
