Mary Thomas, a long-time fundraising leader, will steer the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation into the future.
The Foundation (SMHF) announced her appointment last week, hailing her work with foundations supporting Toronto’s Mount Sinai and SickKids hospitals, the Royal Ontario Museum, the YMCA of Greater Toronto, and the Salvation Army.
“In my past work, I have learned that people care deeply about their local health care,” said Thomas in a statement. “The community support of Stevenson Memorial Hospital clearly demonstrates the people here really care about one another, and they come together to support one another. This past year has taught us that nothing is more important than health, and having access to great healthcare close to home. I am very excited about helping the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Redevelopment become reality and to be a part of the committed and caring communities surrounding Stevenson.”
This enthusiasm was shared by Jody Levac, President & CEO of Stevenson Memorial Hospital.
“This is a critical time for Stevenson and the Foundation as we work towards revitalizing our hospital, reaching our next stage in the redevelopment process with the Ministry of Health and the goal of our current Capital Campaign in support of the project. On behalf of Stevenson, we are thrilled to welcome Mary and know that she will use her expertise and experience to engage the local community in support of our hospital.”
Thomas’ appointment is effective July 12.
