The Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie Campaign is a massive annual fundraiser, raising $19.7 million for over 600 Canadian charities this year.
In New Tecumseth, the campaign raised $28,300 in support of the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation’s “Because of You, We Can Campaign.”
This year, three Tim Hortons locations participated in support of SMHF. These include the locations at Young Street, Dunham Drive by Walmart, and County Rd. 50.
Each location donated 100 percent of the sale from the chocolate chip cookies, custom made with a sweet icing smile, that were assembled by Tim Hortons staff and volunteer members in the community.
The week-long national campaign lasted from May 1 to 7. This was the first year that the campaign was launched in the spring.
The Smile Cookie Campaign was originally launched in 1996 and, over the years, has raised $111 million.
“We are incredibly grateful to Tim Hortons and the community for their outstanding support during Smile Cookie week,” said Mary Thomas, CEO of Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation. “Through this initiative, significant funds have been raised that will help us to continue providing the highest quality of care for our patients and supporting our dedicated staff at Stevenson Memorial Hospital. This year’s success is a testament to the power of community, and we’re so grateful to be the recipients.”
Tim Hortons locations nationwide participate in the Smile Cookie Campaign each year.
“We’re so proud and humbled that Tim’s guests have once again shown incredible support for our Smile Cookie campaign and important charities and community groups where they live, by helping us raise a record-breaking $19.7 million,” said Axel Schwan, President of Tim Hortons. “To achieve such an amazing result means baking and hand-decorating millions upon millions of Smile Cookies over the course of just a week. My heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone who made this happen, including all of our passionate restaurant owners, team members and volunteers who helped us dot eyes and create smiles.”
