Influenza outbreak closes inpatient unit at Stevenson Memorial Hospital

The medical and surgical inpatient unit at Stevenson Memorial Hospital is now closed to visitors.
In collaboration with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, an influenza outbreak has been declared in Stevenson Memorial Hospital’s medical/surgical unit.
All close contacts have been notified.
Enhanced cleaning has been implemented along with additional infection prevention and control measures. This includes additional influenza testing.
The medical/surgical inpatient unit is closed to visitors at this time, unless a designated or essential care partner has been determined as required or a patient is palliative.
Wearing a medical mask is a requirement at all times in the unit.
Masks are provided by the hospital.
