Pipe cleaners used to be a tool for cleaning a pipe.

Someone discovered that due to their bendable shape and furry liner, they were also useful for making arts and crafts.

Jade Bryan of Jades Craftable Creations has taken pipe cleaner crafting to a whole new level and creates beautiful decorative flowers, and other small decorative items.

Modern pipe cleaners are called “fuzzy wires” and are specifically designed for the crafter market with different colours and a lot more furry lining.

Jade brought her flowers to the Tottenham Vendor’s Market on July 26, and visitors were delighted by her colourful creations.

She started making the flowers almost on a whim after she saw a video that inspired her.

“I create flowers and hair accessories and other nature themed out of pipe cleaners, or as some people call them, fuzzy wire,” Jade explained. “I was scrolling on my phone and saw a video, and made some of the flowers for my friends, and it kind of spiralled from there.”

Jade started creating her own designs and adding personal touches to the flowers she made.

“I have around 12 different flowers, flower crowns, and mushrooms which are brand new,” Jade explained. “I also have hair clips. I’ve sold at several different markets in the region.”

For smaller flowers ideal for household display, Jade uses special floral stems. She also uses tiny LED lights in some of her creations that give them a real sparkle.

Jade is a nurse by profession and is planning to go back to school at Georgian College to upgrade her skills with the aim of becoming a registered nurse. However, she will continue to make her flowers and appear at different markets.

Jade will be at the Magical World of Faeries fest in Coldwater on Aug. 15.
