After another successful golf tournament held at Bear Creek Golf Course, the Kevin Lord Memorial Foundation continues to help local charitable causes by donating the proceeds of the annual tournament.
On Thursday, Dec. 12, the Foundation donated $1,000 to Matthews House Hospice in Alliston.
“We raised the funds through our annual tournament,” explained Al Lord, chair of the Kevin Lord Memorial Foundation. “This year we had 130 golfers. We’re usually sold out. Matthews House has been one of the major causes we support. We also have supported the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, and Camp Fire Circle, a camp for kids with cancer.”
The fundraiser was started in 2007 after Al’s son Kevin passed away.
“This is our 17th year doing the tournament,” Al said. “It’s still going.”
Al said that if he decides to give it up one day, he hopes someone else will be able to take the torch and continue running the tournament.
