It was a good day for hitting the links when 152 golfers turned out for the annual Kevin Lord Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 30, at Bear Creek Golf & Country Club in Utopia.
The annual event raises funds and supports several local charities.
Foundation president Al Lord visited Stevenson Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 30, and presented the hospital with a cheque for $2,000.
This is money we raised at our golf tournament,” Lord explained. “We have supported Stevenson Memorial Hospital over the past few years. We had 152 golfers out for the event, and they all had a fun time. It was another sell-out year. The weather was terrific this year, it was a beautiful day. This year it was an exciting year for us because we had a hole-in-one contest, but we didn’t have a winner. The new hospital is coming along and the beauty of our donation to the hospital is that is also matched by the Morningview Foundation. It was matched dollar for dollar, so now the donation is $4,000.
The Morningview Foundation has been matching donations to the hospital dollar for dollar this year, so every donation is doubled.
“We’re grateful to Al and everyone who has supported the Kevin Lord Golf Tournament over the years,” said Dr. Ted Vandvis, CEO of Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation. “Turning the memory of Kevin into an opportunity to give back to our community is a meaningful way to honour his life, and we’re incredibly thankful for this generous donation and the difference it will make for Stevenson Memorial Hospital.”
The Kevin Lord Foundation has raised thousands of dollars for local charities over the years.
The foundation also provides a scholarship for a local ball hockey player every year.
