Lineup of events released for New Tecumseth’s Winterfest 2024

There’s no better way to beat the winter blues than to embrace the season and have some fun in the cold weather!

The Town of New Tecumseth has released the lineup of events that will be taking place at Winterfest 2024 at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre (NTRC) on Feb. 3.

The fun will get underway at 11:30 a.m.

Bundle up and enjoy some winter activities in the NTRC parking lot.

Bring your skates and enjoy outdoor fun, weather permitting, and get some exercise.

There will be a live ice sculpture demonstration, a family tug of war, family-friendly games, and a chance to meet your local firefighters, who will bring some of their equipment, as well as a ‘Touch a Truck’ exhibit where you can see a Zamboni and snowplow up close. If you ask nicely, they may allow you to take a seat in one of the vehicles to see what it’s like behind the wheel.

If the snow remains, there will be an opportunity to try snowshoeing around the grounds.

Along with a live DJ, there will be some live entertainment. The ‘Trulee Odd Show’ will perform at 12:30 p.m. and again at 2:00 p.m. ‘The Fireguy’ will perform at 3:30 p.m.

The kids can enjoy a train ride, and when it’s over, you can make your way over to the fire pits and warm up with some s’mores.

When you feel a chill after being outside for a while, you can head indoors into the NTRC and enjoy some warmer activities.

These will include face painting, a caricature artist, the ‘Bumbling Bert’ magic show and dance party. ‘Bumbling Bert’ will perform at 1:00 p.m., and again at 2:30 p.m.

There will be free skating on both indoor ice pads from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., courtesy of the Kiwanis Club.

This will be a full day of winter fun for the entire family.

Winterfest 2024 will take place on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre, 7300 Industrial Parkway in Alliston, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
