List of candidates for the local municipal 2026 election

The Ontario municipal elections are still two-and-a-half months away, but several candidates have already thrown their hats in the ring for 2026.
Municipal elections elect a mayor, deputy mayor, councillors, and school board trustees.
In Ontario, municipal elections will be held on Oct. 26, 2026.
The nomination period for residents looking to run for municipal council or local school boards closes on Aug. 21.
Below is an unofficial list of registered candidates who have filed nomination papers, but have not yet been certified to run for office. Certification of candidates will occur after Aug. 21, and this list can change with new candidates before the nomination period closes.
