Little Girl Big Imagination series unveils new adventure

The Little Girl Big Imagination series by local teen author, dancer, and director, Andrea Matei, has released a new video that premiered on Feb. 16, on YouTube.

This is the first episode of season two of the artistic mini-series, directed and produced by Andrea, and featuring her younger sister, Gabi, as Little Girl Gabi.

The new episode is titled ‘At the Farm.’

Andrea uses storytelling and movement to tell the story.

This episode has Little Girl Gabi spending a day at the farm where her vivid imagination takes centre stage, as she follows a mysterious black bird into the barn and a magical transformation unfolds.

Behind the lens, Director of Photography and photographer, Ricardo Araújo captures the magic while Andrea’s choreography comes to life.

Future episodes plan to showcase various young dancers as the objects of Gabi’s imagination, giving them the opportunity to perform on camera and expand their portfolio.

“This season continues to be a celebration of curiosity, imagination, and the art of movement,” said Andrea. “We aim to inspire young minds to explore the limitless possibilities of their imagination and encourage a lover for the beauty of dance.”

The episode was filmed at the picturesque Javgureanu Farms in Orillia with production assistance from Celia Araújo and makeup by Elisa McIntyre.

The Little Gil Big Imagination series is a family project led by Andrea featuring the imaginative adventures of her little sister Gabi. The series aims to inspire young audiences to explore their creativity and embrace the joy of movement through captivating storytelling.

In addition to the short dance films, the project also promotes early literacy through the children’s picture books created with pictures from each episode.

Andrea has released two children’s picture books based on episodes 1 and 3 of Season 1, to serve as early literacy tools both at home and in schools.
