After a successful showing of her work at the Adjala-Tosorontio Municipal Centre, artist Susan Hunter Guise, will be exhibiting her work at the Barrie Art Club.
This new exhibit is titled ‘Poems in Pastel,’ and is a captivating exhibition of pastels.
Vibrant pastel artworks with original haiku poems create a harmonious dialogue between visual and literary art forms.
In this exhibit, Suan pairs each pastel painting with an original haiku, deepening the viewer’s engagement with the artwork. Inspired by her studies of shodo (Japanese calligraphy) and haiku, Susan’s works blend the bold textures of pastel with poetic reflections, celebrating the beauty and serenity of the natural world.
“Pastels offer a richness and depth that truly come to life when viewed up close,” Susan observed. “This exhibition reflects my love for nature, with each painting and poem inviting viewers to experience a moment of peace, beauty, and quiet contemplation.
Through her impressionistic style, Susan captures the complexity and elegance of landscapes, inviting audiences to reflect on the intersection of art and nature.
The exhibit will be on display from Jan. 27 to Feb. 22, 2025, at the Barrie Art Club, located at 11 King St., Unit 8, Barrie.
An opening reception will take place on Sunday, Feb. 2 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
