The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) has announced it has received a donation of $6,000 from the Alliston Canadian Tire store.

The funds were raised during the store’s second annual ‘Blooms for a Cause’ fundraising initiative.

Building on last year’s success, Canadian Tire set an ambitious goal to sell 2,500 hanging baskets. That’s an increase from last year’s total of 1,500.

Thanks to a lot of support from customers and community members, the initiative surpassed expectations, selling a total of 2,995 baskets.

From each sale, $2 was donated to SMHF.

“‘Blooms for a Cause’ is a wonderful way for our community to come together, beautify our surroundings, and support Stevenson,” said Frank Cerisano, CEO of SMHF. “This year’s outstanding participation will have an impact on the campaign and get us one step closer to meeting our financial target. We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with Canadian Tire Alliston and their incredible customers whose spirit of giving is exactly what we need to ensure our hospital remains at the forefront of care.”

The ‘Because of You’ campaign is a bold and ambitious effort to raise $80 million through community support to help build the future of Stevenson Memorial Hospital. The project will triple the size of the hospital.

“At Canadian Tire, we believe in supporting our community and making a positive impact where it matters most — our local hospital, Stevenson Memorial,” Canadian Tire said in a statement. “‘Blooms for a Cause’ allows us to do just that, helping to beautify our community while giving back. We’re proud of the incredible support from our customers and delighted to contribute to the ‘Because of You’ campaign, knowing this will help deliver essential services and enhance wellness for our customers, family, neighbours, and friends.”
