The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has located a lost firearm it has been searching for since early last month and returned it to its owner.

On Dec. 8 2023, a media release was circulated by Nottawasaga OPP in relation to a firearm that was unintentionally lost during travel between Barrie and Alliston. The shotgun slipped from the back of a hunter’s pickup truck in the vicinity of the 6th Line of Essa and Barrie. Fortunately, a vigilant citizen found the firearm and promptly turned it in to the local police station.

“The Nottawasaga OPP extends their gratitude to the public for their cooperation and assistance in this matter. The swift response and responsible actions of the community played a crucial role in the safe recovery of the lost firearm,” said Nottawaga OPP.
