The Tottenham wastewater treatment plant is due for maintenance to ensure it runs at optimal performance.
The Town of New Tecumseth is beginning maintenance work at the facility this month, and it is expected to continue through September.
During the maintenance procedure, one of the plant’s biosolids lagoons will be cleaned and cleared of built-up material. This work is important to keep the wastewater system operating safely and efficiently.
During the project, residents may notice occasional odours in the area around the treatment plant. Any odours will be temporary and only present while the work is being completed.
This work is routine and necessary to maintain the wastewater system.
The Town and contractor will take reasonable steps to reduce odour impacts whenever possible.
This maintenance project helps protect public health and the environment and ensures the system continues to operate effectively.
