An Essa man decided he was in need of some charity when he allegedly stole a donation box from a local business in Angus.
Officers from the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police arrested and charged one individual in connection with a charity box theft in Essa Township.
On July 9, shortly after 9 a.m., Nottawasaga OPP responded to a theft incident at a business on Mill Street.
Video footage obtained by police determined that the male suspect entered the store the night before, stealing a charity box before fleeing the store.
As a result of the investigation and assistance from the public, police were able to identify the suspect.
Christopher Lang, 28, of Essa, was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Failure to Comply with Probation Order.
The OPP noted its appreciation of Essa residents for their proactive engagement and support regarding this matter.
The charge laid against Lang has not been proven in court.
