Man with child passenger in vehicle charged with impaired driving

The South Simcoe Police recently laid impaired driving charges against a 44-year-old man who was driving with a child passenger.

South Simcoe Police observed a black Honda Pilot parked in a shopping plaza on Innisfil Beach Road in Innisfil on May 15, at approximately 8:25 p.m. Police witnessed a male exiting the convenience store with a child and carrying alcoholic beverages. 

The male entered the driver’s side of the vehicle with the alcohol purchased while the child entered the passenger side. As the driver exited the plaza, police followed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

South Simcoe Police conducted an investigation and found the unopened alcoholic beverages and detected a strong odour of alcohol coming from the driver. After further investigation, two breath samples were provided and as a result, a 44-year-old male from Innisfil was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Adult Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration of 80 mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood or higher – C.C. Section 320.14(1)(b)

Under Provincial Offences, the Innisfil man was charged with:

  • Drive motor vehicle no currently validated permit S. 7(1)(a) HAT
  • Owner Operates Motor vehicle on a highway with no insurance S. 2(1)(a) CAIA

The child was returned home safely.

The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on May 29, 2025.

None of the listed charges have been proven in court.
