The Ministry of Health has appointed an investigator to examine operations at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston.

The appointment was announced on Feb. 7.

The order allows investigation on all matters related to governance, management operations, and patient care at the local health care facility.

The investigator, Janice Skot, will spend four months at the hospital working closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, hospital staff, and key stakeholders.

During the investigation, regular operations and hospital services will continue as normal.

SMH will continue to work on its redevelopment project with the Ministry while the review is completed.

The result of this investigation “is in the best interests of our hospital and the patients we serve today and in the future,” the hospital said in a statement.

The statement added, “The SMH Board of Directors and Administration welcome the investigation and look forward to working with the Ministry of Health, Ontario Health, and Ms. Skot, as well as receiving the results.”
