Students at Monsignor J.E. Ronan Catholic School in Beeton dazzled audiences with the musical Finding Nemo Kids over four performances at the school.

The cast included 40 students with main characters and an ensemble.

The play is based on a book but was adapted for the stage by Kristen Anderson Lopez and Robert Lopez.

It’s an original Disney-Pixar production.

The story features a young fish named Nemo, who goes on a journey across the ocean, much to the dismay of his father, Marlin.

As he sets out to find and rescue his son, both Marlin and Nemo meet all sorts of other ocean dwellers.

This includes a stingray, hungry sharks, a group of poisonous jellyfish, a troop of sea turtles, and a flock of seagulls.

The production is well done with lots of singing and some dancing, performed by an enthusiastic group of young actors.

The play featured a clever set design, by Adam Aubin, Josh Coleman, and Shaughn English-Cragg.

This play was directed and choreographed by Katie Bekking, Kathryn Berto, and Shaughn English-Cragg.

The students and teachers worked hard through many rehearsals to get things dialled in right before performance day. Their hard work truly showed when the students took the stage on May 15 and 16 for morning and evening performances, each day.
