The Town of New Tecumseth will have a flag-raising ceremony and proclamation from the Mayor to declare National Legion Week on Monday, Sept. 18.

There are three Legions in New Tecumseth: Alliston Branch 171, Tottenham Branch 329, and Beeton Branch 421.

In total, there are close to 600 members in New Tecumseth.

Legion Week celebrates and recognizes the hard work members of the Legion do for Veterans, seniors, and the community.

During Legion Week, all three branches in New Tecumseth will be hosting events, including speakers at each branch. The public is welcome to attend to learn more about what the Legion does to assist the community.

Legions across Canada have supported Veterans and their families since 1926.

The flag-raising ceremony will be attended by New Tecumseth Mayor Richard Norcross, President of the Alliston Branch Russ Nesbitt, President of the Tottenham Branch Gary Brown, President of the Beeton Branch Chris Miller, and District E Commander Rick Preston.

The flag raising will occur on Monday, Sept. 19, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Town of New Tecumseth Municipal Administration office.
