The regular season has been completed and the senior division of the North Dufferin Baseball League is ready to go into the 2025 playoffs to see who will be this year’s Strother Cup championship team.
The New Lowell Knights have clinched the top spot in the league this year with a 17-4-1 record and 35 points.
The Knights had a four-game winning streak to end the season and moved ahead of the Owen Sound Baysox who had led for most of the second half of the regular season.
New Lowell landed in first place by a single point.
Eight teams will now start he playoffs.
The Orillia Majors, Clarksburg Blues, Caledon Cardinals, and the Mansfield Cubs were eliminated from playoff contention as they were the bottom four teams in the standings.
New Lowell will be up against the eighth-seeded Creemore Padres in the first round. Creemore finished with a 10-11-1 record in the 22-game regular season.
The second-place Owen Sound Baysox will be up against the Midland Mariners in their series.
Midland ended the regular season with a 10-10-2 record.
Finishing in third place, the Ivy Rangers will meet the Barrie Angels in their series. Ivy finished the regular season with a 13-6-2 record.
The fourth-place Lisle Astros will be up against the Bolton Brewers for their first-round series.
Both clubs finished in the middle of the pack.
Bolton had an 11-9-1 record. Lisle had an 11-9-1.
Lisle and Bolton were scheduled to meet for the final game of the NDBL senior season on July 28.
The result of that game will have no impact on either team’s place in the standings.
The playoff schedule has not yet been announced.
