Children’s Mental Health Ontario and New Path Youth and Family Services, are encouraging residents in Simcoe County to take some time to learn about the importance of child and youth mental health and to seek out mental health support when needed.
Children’s Mental Health Week is May 6-12.
“We are excited to raise awareness of Children’s Mental Health Week this May by Shining Green,” said Jim Harris, New Path CEO. “The colour green is used to celebrate child and youth mental health as it represents hope, growth, and transformation. Join us by wearing the colour green, taking part in an outdoor physical activity, and sharing your tips for mental wellness with your family and friends.”
Children’s Mental Health Week is an initiative of Children’s Mental Health Ontario and aims to bring awareness to the prevalence of mental health issues throughout childhood and the support available to children, youth, and their families.
“Ontario’s children and youth are facing unprecedented mental health challenges, which are only increasing in complexity,” said Tatum Wilson, CEO of Children’s Mental Health Ontario. “This Children’s Mental Health Week, we are raising awareness of the importance of community-based child and youth mental health care, which helps children and their families access critical mental health support when and where they need it. We encourage Ontarians to have courageous conversations about child and youth mental health, and to learn more about the resources and supports available in their communities.”
