New Tecumseth man wins $2.5 million jackpot

A New Tecumseth man is $2.5 million richer after hitting it big in the LOTTO 6/49 Classic Jackpot on Dec. 31, 2022.
Shane King visited the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. His ticket was one of two that shared the $5 million jackpot.
“I’ve been playing the lottery for about 10 years,” Shane said when he went to pick up his winnings. The self-employed man said he was ‘shocked and overwhelmed’ when he realized he had won.
“The emotions really took over,” he said. “I couldn’t believe it. I told my wife and she was so excited. I kept checking the ticket on my phone – not because I didn’t believe it, but because I wanted to see the $2.5 million prize amount.”
Shane said he plans to take his time to decide what he will do with the win.
“I will talk to a financial advisor and think of my future,” he said. “It’s a dream come true.”
LOTTO 6/49 offers players a chance to win two multi-million dollar jackpots every Wednesday and Saturday.
The Classic Draw offers a fixed $5 million jackpot for every draw.
