Representatives from the New Tecumseth Memorial 5km Run presented a cheque for $12,000 to the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation on Wednesday, Dec. 6.
The funds were raised for the annual run, which took place on Oct. 15, and will play an essential role in supporting the Foundation’s ‘Because of you, we can campaign,’ contributing to the quality of healthcare services provided by Stevenson Memorial Hospital.
The run saw an enthusiastic return to the community after facing challenges posed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This annual community event, now under the stewardship of a new, dedicated group of local volunteers, demonstrated the resilience and unity of the community and the support it has for the event.
“As a small community we’re fortunate to have Stevenson Memorial Hospital, a vital asset that benefits us all,” said Lisa Miceli, run director of the New Tecumseth Memorial 5km Run. “Supporting and funding its projects ensures our hospital thrives, serving the well-being of every resident. The success of our event is a testament to the incredible support of our community and dedicated volunteer, who make it possible. The New Tecumseth Memorial 5km Run not only raises funds but unites our entire community in a fun and inclusive way, promoting physical well-being for a cause we can all really get behind.”
The ‘Because of you, we can,’ campaign is the largest campaign in SMHF’s history.
“We are so grateful for the New Tecumseth Memorial event returning to our community in support of Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation,” said Mary Thomas, CEO of Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation. “The collective efforts of volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and participants were pivotal in raising funds towards this gift, and we are very thankful for their support.”
