New Tecumseth Recreation Centre will have a new pro shop

April 14, 2022   ·   0 Comments

The New Tecumseth Recreation Centre will again have a pro shop following a five-year leasing agreement with 400 Cup Management to operate inside an 890 square foot area in the recreation facility.

The company will take over the space on May 1, 2022.

400 Cup Management made an unsolicited request in January 2022 to establish a pro shop at the NTRC that would feature skate sharpening services, retail items such as laces, tape, and hockey sticks, as well as local league apparel for South Simcoe Girls Hockey and TNT Minor Hockey.

The space would also act as a home base of operations for the 400 Cup Group who currently use the NTRC as their host arena for tournaments, league play, and training and camp programs.

The space is located on the first floor of the building next to the snack bar.

Currently, the area is used for fitness classes with around eight classes happening each week.

The fitness classes will be moved to a space on the second floor of the building.

The Recreation Centre hasn’t had a pro shop for ten years.

A pro shop opened at the facility in 2009, but after three years it closed citing “difficulty in making the operations financially sustainable to continue.”

The Town made the space available for a new pro shop to take over but at the time there were no interested parties.

The 400 Cup Group is involved in hockey tournaments and want to make the NTRC their headquarters. They have created local partnerships with TNT Minor Hockey and Clearview women’s minor hockey.

The Group will be charged $14 per square foot for the space rounding out to $12,500 per year.
