Nottawasaga OPP arrest man for impaired driving following traffic stop

The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has laid charges relating to an impaired driving investigation.

Shortly after 11:25 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 22, an officer from the Nottawasaga Detachment was conducting traffic enforcement on Brentwood Road in Essa. 

The subject vehicle was observed travelling at a low rate of speed with no rear lights on. The vehicle was then stopped by the OPP.

As a result of the OPP’s investigation, Johnathan McCann, 49, from Angus, was arrested for impaired driving.

McCann has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus, operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code, and take motor vehicle without consent. 

The man was arrested on the strength of outstanding warrants and was later released with a future court date. 

None of the listed charges have been proven in court.
