Nottawasaga OPP arrest two in drug trafficking investigation

The Nottawasaga Detachment of the OPP made two arrests in the Town of Essa on Tuesday, Jan. 30, as the result of a drug trafficking investigation.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 30, members of the Nottawasaga OPP Community Street Crimes Unit, along with the Caledon Street Crime Unit and Dufferin Street Crime Unit conducted a Controlled Drugs and Substances Search Warrant on two residences on Mill Street in Angus.

As a result of the investigation, officers seized approximately 34.3 grams of methamphetamine, 94 fentanyl pills, 1.7 grams of purple fentanyl, 1 gram of heroin, 4 oxycodone pills, and 6 syringes with an unknown liquid.

As a result of the investigation, two people were charged with offences.

Jason Guergis, 49, and Kaitlyn Ellis, 31, both of Essa Township

were charged with the following offences:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine 
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl 
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Heroin 
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Meth 
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Oxycodone 
  • Traffick in Schedule 1 substance – Heroin 
  • Traffick in Schedule 1 substance – Crystal Meth 
  • Traffick in Schedule 1 substance – Opioid (other than heroin) 
  • Traffick in Schedule 1 substance – Opioid (other than heroin) 
  • Traffick in Schedule 1 substance – Cocaine

Both accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on March 14. These charges have not been proven in court.
