Nottawasaga OPP introduces new operations manager

The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police announced that Staff Sergeant Kevin Bucknor, an accomplished law enforcement officer with a wealth of experience, has joined the detachment as operations manager.

Holding degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science from the University of Guelph as well as a diploma in Police Foundations from Sheridan College, Staff Sergeant Bucknor brings a unique blend of academic knowledge and practical expertise to his role with the Nottawasaga OPP.

Staff Sergeant Bucknor began his career at the Caledon Detachment. During his tenure, he took on diverse roles, including coach officer, school resource officer, mental health liaison, administrative Sergeant, Community Response Unit Team lead, and interim operations manager.

Through his dedication and strategic approach, Staff Sergeant Bucknor forged invaluable partnerships with stakeholders in Peel Region.

Staff Sergeant Bucknor’s commitment to community service is reflected through his involvement with various risk mitigation committees, including the Community Safety and Well Being Leadership Table, Opioid Strategy Working Group, Peel Human Services, Justice Co-coordinating Committee, Peel Crisis Response Committee, and the Police/Security Transfer of Care Working Group. He has also held the role of officer member of the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers.

In his role as Provincial Coordinator for the Auxiliary Program, Staff Sergeant Bucknor successfully spearheaded the implementation of the Auxiliary Modernization Strategy, working closely with key stakeholders and partners to promote community safety and well-being. He has served as the executive lead for the OPP School Officer Review, demonstrating his commitment to creating safe and inclusive learning environments for youth.

Staff Sergeant Bucknor’s extensive leadership experience includes senior roles within OPP Community Safety Services and the Provincial Operations Centre, where he served as Commander.
