The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority has released highlights from its June 2026 board meeting, including updates and upcoming events.
Draft levy for budget
With the upcoming amalgamation of conservation authorities, the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks directed the current Conservation Authority Board to pass the 2027 budget before Feb. 1, 2027.
As a result, Conservation Authorities are adjusting their processes to accommodate the anticipated direction and the timing of the October municipal elections.
NVCA’s Board of Directors approved a draft levy increase of $129,055.12 and directed staff to finalize the 2027 budget and business plan for approval at the September 2026 board meeting.
Boundary adjustment and apportionment for levy
The Board approved adjustments to NVCA’s operational and asset levy apportionments to reflect municipal boundary changes between Barrie, Springwater, and Oro-Medonte that took effect on Jan. 1, 2026.
As assessment data currently reflect pre-boundary-adjustment municipal limits, manual changes are required to ensure levy costs are fairly allocated among the affected municipalities. These adjustments will continue through the 2027 budget cycle.
Upcoming events
Tiffin Nature School takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays through the summer. You can register for both Camp Tiffin and Tiffin Nature School by visiting the NVCA’s website.
