Get your sweet tooth in check and call your dentist because Oh! So Sweet Candy is now open in Alliston.
On Saturday, September 17, Oh! So Sweet Candy owners Melissa and Stephen Hurley celebrated their grand opening at 96 Victoria Street West, Unit 3, with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The event was attended by friends and family of the couple, along with members of Council, including Mayor Rick Milne, Ward 5 Councillor Donna Jebb and Ward 6 Councillor Stephanie MacLellan.
Also in attendance were representatives from the Alliston Business Improvement Association – Lachlan McGurk (owner of Bern’s Flowers & Gifts/Belfry Chocolates) and Julia Stubbs (owner of Boston Pizza Alliston).
Oh! So Sweet Candy sells all types of confectionery goodies, including “old school products” that will bring back memories, plus “cool and unique items that you won’t see in your everyday store” with new items added weekly.
Melissa told The Times she was thrilled with her reception from the Alliston business community who showed up to receive her “with open arms” to check out her selection of candy, chocolates, cereal, cookies, chips, drinks, international snacks and baking supplies.
Oh! So Sweet Candy was started as a café and subscription service but as the business evolved so did the need for a permanent location.
“We’ve always wanted [to be in the] downtown Alliston area and a very rare unit came up,” Melissa told The Times on her stores relocation from Adjala. “Our Loretto store had to close down due to issues with the restaurant we were attached to. It was a long sad summer not having a store and we are so excited to finally be open and see everyone again.”
Oh! So Sweet Candy accepts cash, debit and credit and is open Wednesday to Sunday.
