The Ontario Potato Distribution (Alliston) Inc. has pledged $50,000 towards the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation’s ‘Because of you, we can’ campaign to redevelop the health centre.

OPDI’s business is farming, packing, storing and distributing potatoes from local farms.

“As a local business that has been operating in Alliston for more than 60 years, it’s important to us to give back,” said Danny Cappuccitti, President of OPDI. “A clinic room in the revitalized hospital will be named in honour of my father, Gordon Cappuccitti, who co-founded this company. It’s a proud legacy to leave for future generations.”

The $50,000 pledge brings OPDI’s total lifetime giving to almost $90,000. This first installment of the pledge was presented in December.

“Thank you to the Cappuccitti family and Ontario Potato Distribution Alliston for this generous pledge,” said Mart Thomas, CEO of SMHF. “It’s a privilege to have the support of this long-standing business in our community, as we work together to transform Stevenson. We look forward to the naming presentation further down the road and the opportunity to showcase the impact of this tremendous gift.”

The Because of you, we can Campaign is the largest campaign in the SMHF’s history, supporting the redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital. The hospital’s redevelopment plan includes a revitalized Emergency Department, doubling the square footage of the hospital and tripling the amount of parking space. Refreshed outpatient rooms, birthing suites and laboratory space are also included in the plans.
