OPP investigating ‘fail to remain’ accident on Highway 89

The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is seeking a potential witness to a “fail to remain” collision on Highway 89 in the Town of Innisfil.
A photo of the witness vehicle has been released.
Officers responded to a report of a deceased female located on the shoulder of Highway 89 near 5th Side Road on Sunday, July 13, 2025, shortly after 3:00 a.m.
The deceased was identified as a 35-year-old woman from Richmond Hill.
The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was walking along Highway 89 when she was struck by a blue passenger vehicle travelling eastbound shortly after 2:00 a.m. The vehicle failed to remain at the scene.
The vehicle has since been located and investigators are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the driver.
Investigators have also identified a white sport utility vehicle that was seen travelling closely behind the suspect vehicle at the time of the collision. Police believe the driver may have witnessed the incident and are seeking to speak with them regarding any information they may have.
As part of the investigation, Highway 89 was temporarily closed between King Street and 5th Side Road as members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team assisted with the investigation.
The Nottawasaga OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Assistance is being provided by OPP Forensic Identification Services.
