It is almost time when people start thinking about enjoying a drink or a meal in the open air and taking advantage of the summer sun.

The Town of New Tecumseth is again permitting restaurants to open or expand patio spaces at various locations around the community this summer.

The Temporary Restaurant Patio Program provides food and beverage establishments with the opportunity take advantage of the summer weather and offer safe, temporary outdoor dining areas to their customers.

Subject to the program’s conditions and public health measures, the patios can operate in parking lots and adjacent premises on restaurant’s private property as well as on municipal sidewalks at restaurants located in the downtown areas of Alliston, Beeton, and Tottenham.

To assist the local business community in its recovery from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, no municipal fees will be charged to participating establishments.

Submission requirement to obtain a patio permit include a completed application form, property owner approval, and a site specific conceptual site plan drawing.

A Health Unit Certificate of Inspection is necessary.

Restaurant owners must also provide an AGCO Liquor License, if applicable, a certificate of insurance, a professional engineer’s certificate for temporary “bump-out” sidewalk structures, and traffic barrier, if applicable.
