Paw-fect Pets hosts fundraiser for local animal welfare

There were plenty of four-footed visitors with their owners who came to the Paw-fect Pets N’ Supplies fundraiser in support of local animal welfare shelters at Jackson Plaza in Beeton on Saturday, June 25.

While the pets may not have realized what was going and simply enjoyed being at the store, owners were doing their part to help raise funds for the Alliston and District Humane Society and Procyon Wildlife.

The Humane Society takes in homeless and abandoned animals. Procyon focuses on helping sick and injured wildlife recover.

Store owners Sonia and Shane Adams greeted visitors and Shane had barbecue duties in front of the store.

“We’re doing a fundraiser to help raise money for local the Humane Society and Procyon Wildlife,” Sonia explained. “We’re a fully-functioning pet store so we do dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, fish, and small animals, and we also have full on-site grooming. We’ve done fundraisers before, so it’s not our first one. We’re a pet store, so the Humane Society and Procyon are our logical choice to help.”

The day featured a barbecue, raffle, gift baskets, and a donation bin for blankets and other needed items for the Humane Society.

“We have raffle tickets and can enter for a chance to win one of the baskets,” Sonia explained. “That money will be divided between the Humane Society and Procyon. We also have Paws for a Cause, and that money will go toward Procyon. We also have donation bags of animal products, with a mixture of things and dollar value and that will go to the Humane Society. The proceeds from the barbecue will be divided.”

Many pet owners who came to the store understand that while their pets have a home and are cared for, there are many others who have been brought to the Humane Society or Procyon who need help, and those pet owners where generous in trying to help out other animals who need help.
