Police renew appeal for information in Highway 90 hit and run

It has been one year since a fatal fail-to-remain collision in Innisfil claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman from Richmond Hill, and the OPP is appealing to the public for information regarding the vehicle involved and the person who was driving it.

Shortly after 3 a.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2025, the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a deceased female located on the shoulder of Highway 89 near 5th Side Road.

The deceased was identified as Jessica Follett, 35, of Richmond Hill.

The investigation revealed that the victim had been walking along Highway 89 when she was struck by an eastbound blue passenger vehicle shortly after 2 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle failed to remain at the scene.

Investigators believe a white sport utility vehicle was travelling closely behind the suspect vehicle at the time of the collision. The driver of that vehicle may be an important witness and is urged to contact the police.

“One year ago today, an innocent mother of five was tragically taken, and her family continues to live with the impact of that loss,” said Det. Insp. Shaun Filman of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), in a statement released on July 13.

“Someone out there knows who was behind the wheel that night. It is time to come forward and do the right thing for this grieving family.”
