Police search for suspects in Utopia home invasion

Officers from the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are investigating an incident that occurred in Essa Township in Utopia near Pineview Trail.

Shortly after 12:00 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 6, officers were dispatched to a residence on the 9th Line of Essa Township for a reported home invasion in progress.

The suspects fled the scene prior to police arriving.

The preliminary investigation revealed that two unknown suspects, believed to be males, attended the address and forced entry into the house. They searched the house prior to fleeing.

The two male suspects that entered the house are described as between 5’5” and 5’10” tall, wearing all black with ski masks and goggles.

One male’s black jacket had a fur hood.

The suspects possibly entered a grey or black sedan used to flee the scene.

Police have no further description of the suspects at this time and are encouraging residents to review their camera footage or dash cam between the times of 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, for any suspicious activity that may be helpful in this investigation.

This is believed to be a targeted incident and there is no risk to public safety.

The investigation is ongoing, led by the Nottawasaga OPP Major Crime Unit.
