The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is seeking public assistance to identify a suspect in the murder of an Adjala-Tosorontio man.
It has been two years since the man was murdered. At approximately 9:00 a.m. on Sept. 8, 2021, the OPP responded to a home on Concession Road 3. A 60-year-old man identified as Gordon Banks located deceased outdoors.
The property is large and rural, with many outbuildings and abandoned vehicles, and is known to be frequented by transient individuals.
OPP investigators believe the victim was involved in a physical confrontation before his death, and substantial evidence was collected at the scene. As part of the investigation, the Centre for Forensic Sciences continues to analyze this evidence.
This investigation continues under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), supported by the Forensic Identification Services Unit and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.
“Someone out there has information regarding the death of Gordon Banks,” said Detective Inspector Darren Webster, OPP CIB Major Case Manager, in a statement. “OPP investigators continue to work tirelessly, following up on leads and tips from the public. We believe community members hold the key to bringing those responsible to justice. I you saw something that day or have any information you think our investigators should know, call us right away.”
Anyone with information about what happened to Gordon Banks should contact the Nottawasaga OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222 TIPS (8477) or online at ontariocrimestppers.ca.
When you contact Crime Stoppers, you remain anonymous, you will never have to testify, and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
